Current Grant Opportunities

National Trust Preservation Funds
Grants from National Trust Preservation Funds are intended to encourage preservation at the local level by supporting ongoing preservation work and by providing seed money for preservation projects. These $2,500-$5,000 grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for preservation projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private sector. Deadline: June 3, 2024.

Public Impact Projects at Smaller Organizations
These awards support a variety of activities that focus on enriching interpretive strategies, strengthening interpretive skill sets or enhancing community engagement with public-facing programs. This National Endowment for the Humanities program aims to support small and mid-sized organizations supporting projects that are appropriate in scope and content to each organization’s resources and community needs. Deadline: June 12, 2024.

African American Heritage Preservation Program
The African American Heritage Preservation Program provides grants to assist in the preservation of buildings, sites, or communities of historical and cultural importance to the African American experience in Maryland. All projects must be related to African American history, culture, or heritage in Maryland. Applicants may apply for grants of up to $250,000 for the following types of projects:

  • Acquisition
  • Rehabilitation/capital improvements
  • New construction
  • Pre-development costs such as studies, surveys, plans and specifications, and architectural, engineering, or other special services directly related to pre-construction work for a capital project.

Webinars and in-person workshops are scheduled for April-June. Deadline: July 1, 2024.

Land and Water Conservation Fund
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is now accepting preliminary applications for the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant program. Through this program, local governments with qualifying projects may apply for $50,000 to $1.5 million to create new outdoor recreation spaces, reinvigorate existing parks, and create connections between people and the outdoors. Deadline: June 28, 2024.

Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant Program
The Maryland Historic Trust is accepting applications for Historic Preservation. These non-capital grants provide support for a wide variety of research, survey, planning, and educational activities involving architectural, archaeological, or cultural resources. Deadline: July 1, 2024.

T-Mobile Hometown Grants
T-Mobile is committing up to $25 million through 2026 to support small towns, villages, and territories across America by funding community projects. Grants awarded quarterly.
