Stonecutters/Clipper Cemetery Hike
February 17, 2020 @ 3:00 pm
In honor of Black History Month, take a hike to the lost-in-the-woods cemetery where Seneca Quarry workers were buried in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The family of John and Martha Clipper are the only graves with names lovingly etched on the markers. Learn some of the history of this hard-working family, whose descendants still live in the area. You will cross a plowed field that can be muddy, then follow a narrow wooded path with a small stream to hop over to reach the site. Please dress accordingly! Hosted by Seneca Creek State Park; meet at 16500 River Road in Poolesville.
